Navigate Giethoorn’s scenic canals by boat and explore the charming village at your own pace.
Arriving in Giethoorn after a 1.5-hour journey through a typical Dutch landscape, you will receive your own self-operated boat to navigate through the village at your own pace. Explore the narrow canals and small islands, which are interconnected by 176 bridges leading to the mainland. On each of these islands, you will find charming 18th- and 19th-century farmhouses.
Since Giethoorn has no roads in the center, transportation by boat or on foot is a truly unique experience you must have.
During your free time, you can enjoy a scenic boat ride, have a delicious lunch at one of the best restaurants, take a relaxing stroll along the canals to admire the beautiful houses and boats, shop at various local stores, or even purchase authentic Dutch cheese.
You will be given a specific return time, so please make sure to be back at the designated departure point in Giethoorn on time.
If more than 6 people will be boating, a second boat will be reserved. If you are coming with 8 people, you can simply book as usual, and we will ensure that two boats are ready for you. This is already included in the price.

Our tours depart from Noord, a peaceful area just outside the busy city center, easily accessible by metro. The only metro line you need is the North-South Line (M52).
From any location in the city center, you can take the M52 metro. Major stations include Zuid, Rokin, and Amsterdam Central. In this video, we’ll demonstrate how to travel from Rokin to our departure point. Simply take M52 northbound and exit at the last stop: Noord.
