September holds onto much of summer's warmth, making it a genuinely comfortable month to explore cities on foot. Autumn also brings Amsterdam Dance Event, when clubs, warehouses and concert halls across the city fill with electronic music fans from all over the world, turning Amsterdam into one of the most talked-about stops on the international dance music calendar for the week. As the season deepens, the appeal shifts indoors - quieter museums, shorter queues, and cosy cafés serving seasonal Dutch dishes become the draw instead. Outside of that week, it's an easy season to be flexible in, with no fixed event dictating when to go.
